how to improve credit score

This post is part three of the “What’s my credit score?” blog series.

At MoneyLion, we want to help you achieve financial wellness. Our 360 degree approach includes products and tools that’ll give you peace of mind and helps you to make smarter financial decisions.

If you’ve read part one and two of this series you know how important a credit score is if you’re looking to get a loan, credit card, or even buy a car or home. Now we’re going to show you how easy it is to get your own credit score using MoneyLion’s Free Credit Monitoring tool. The best part is it’ll take just one minute of your time to sign up.

If you haven’t done so already, download our latest iOS and Android app.

Open the app after you’ve downloaded it. If you don’t have a MoneyLion account, you can sign up for free by following the onscreen instructions.

Otherwise sign in and you’ll arrive on the main dashboard. On the middle-right of this screen click on “Credit Monitoring”.

In order for us to pull your credit score you’ll need to provide some basic information about yourself. This includes first name, last name, date of birth, address, and the last four digits of your social security number.

After inputting your information the system will confirm your information is correct. Once confirmed you can authorize MoneyLion to pull your credit score by clicking on “SUBMIT”.

After clicking on “SUBMIT” you’ll be presented with three questions that only you should be able to answer (this is to confirm your identity and prevent other people from accessing your credit score).

After you answer the questions and click “SUBMIT” you’ll be taken to the “Credit Monitoring” page where you’ll see your credit score.

Congratulations! Now you can review your credit score, see what factors are positively or negatively impacting your credit score, and an account snapshot showing your outstanding loan balances.

One useful feature to try out is the credit simulator tool. Click on “Simulator” at the top of the screen and from there you can try out different financial scenarios to see how they might impact your credit score. For example, what will happen if you open a new credit card account or pay off a loan balance?
