Celebrating Mother’s Day in the MoneyLion pride

By

Ever wonder who started Mother’s Day? We have Anna Jarvis to thank for this special day. In 1908, Anna founded the first Mother’s Day in the United States to honor her mother (who had passed away three years earlier) and all mothers everywhere. It was established as an official holiday by President Woodrow Wilson in May 1914, more than 100 years ago.

Never underestimate the power of moms

Anna was inspired by her mother, who had been a fearless social activist. One day, Anna heard her mom pray:

“I hope and pray that someone, sometime, will found a memorial mother’s day commemorating her for the matchless service she renders to humanity in every field of life. She is entitled to it.”

Amen to that! Mothers work tirelessly for their families and communities. They deserve lots of love and pampering this Mother’s Day and always. Please share in the comments how you’re celebrating on Sunday, May 13. ?

Moms inspire us every day

In honor of Mother’s Day, we’ve gathered some quotes from moms in the MoneyLion community that reflect their love for their families.

When we asked our social followers, “Who is your favorite superwoman?” on International Women’s Day, they overwhelmingly said, “My mom!” Here are just two examples:

“My mommy! She has been my teacher, shoulder to cry on, and ear to listen. I love her.” — Kathleen M.

“My mom, Jerusha R., who, at age 85, assumed for two years the full-time caregiver role of my ill father, who just recently passed away. They were married 65 years and together for 70. The strength, perseverance, tenacity, and love she exhibits towards all of our family, as she acts as the Sun in our universe. We are drawn to her and circle around, drawing from her strength and love. I am who I am because of her grace. We love you, mom.” — Myra W.

Motherhood is a labor of love

In addition, customers often tell us that giving their family a better life is their main goal when it comes to financial decisions. Here are just a few quotes from women in the MoneyLion community who make their family’s lives brighter every day:

“My goal is to buy a home for me and my children to call ours forever.” — Tanya W.

“I give the gift cards I earn to my kid (20 years old). I’ve been trying to convince her of the importance of saving now that she can and she’s still living at home.” —
Nadezhda B.

“I have a daughter going off to college that needs everything, including high dorm fees, etc. Thank you for this loan and services, teaching me to invest and better prepare myself financially.” — Nicole T.
